this i an email i wrote to my family after receiving an obama-bashing email from...someone in my family.

Well lemme just put my reasons for voting for obama:

1. I don't want Sarah Palin to be president, EVER! she was the most political VP choice of all time. a good-looking white woman with a son in iraq, a special-needs child that she holds up to crowds like the lion king and a daughter who chose not to get an abortion, plus she's coincidentally the governor of the state where mccain wants to drill and she says it's A-OK...all she needs is a reformed-gay cousin to come out of the woodwork or something...meanwhile she's saying all these subliminally racial things about Obama like "this is a man who sees a different america than you and me" and basically calling him a terrorist...i don't likes it

2. I want the war in Iraq to end, it seems to be all about oil and based on lies, and obama was against it from the start.

3. I want global warming and energy dependence to be dealt with properly and palin doesn't even believe in man-made global warming!

4. John McCain voted with president bush over 90% of the time and president Bush = epic fail!!!!!111111

5. McCain has been running his campaign completely based on attacking Obama's character, running 100% negative ads while Obama is focusing on the economic crisis and other important issues, setting forth solutions and whatnot, and his negative ads are at least factual and about john mccain's record, not his personality, friends or pastor/religion...

6. Money - John McCain wants tax cuts for the rich/big businesses and Obama wants tax cuts for the poor and middle class (whatevs, sounds good to me), plus free health care which like every country has except us, which I'm definitely willing to give a chance to since I've got a medical bill for 35 dollars that my broke butt can't even afford to pay. I don't think my company will be making more than $250,000 a year anytime soon either, but if i t does i sure as heck won't mind paying 3% more taxes. I'll be RICH!

7. foreign relations. kind of touching on number 2 again - america is like the most hated country in the bush-hating world right now, and if we elect mccain it'll only get worse. the way i sees it, electing mccain is a one-way ticket to another 9-11-style attack. the rest of the world is in love with obama, and i am completely fine with having a president that other countries don't hate.

8. Obama is running a campaign that is funded by the people, while mccain is taking money from lobbyists and corporations. who will the new president have to answer to?

9. joe the plumber isn't even a licensed plumber and was most likely planted there by mccain's people to try to trip up obama

10. it's obvious - Obama has "a first-class intellect and a first-class temperament" - he has the oratory skills of a great leader and a presence that inspires great confidence. he's the new JFK! he is cool and his vice president is not crazy. Mccain is like an old, crotchety, frustrated man. I am subscribed to both Obama and McCain's email newsletters and Obama's always has a link to a video of either Barack, Michelle, Biden, or the campaign manager explaining what they're trying to do...Mccain's is just a letter written by some speech writer probably. Anyway, I just think that McCain's ideal candidate is Jack from 30 Rock. Obama is the best for shore!

I don't get how anyone could even think about voting republican right now. do you expect me to close my eyes to the current state of the country and the world when i vote and not think about who is in power right now, and maybe give them one more shot?!? "I didn't go to no fancy school or nothin', but that don't make no sense!" as chris rock says. The media is in love with Barack because he is the best! Everyone loves him because he is the best! He better win or I am going to move to Canada and go to film school in Vancouver. Aight, g2g do laundry and whatnot!

Dane

Here are some things I have learned recently:

politics is not fun to discuss with people who do not share your point of view on things, and there ARE people that you know and are friends with who hold different political views. It is very similar to discussing religion. It's weird.

I learned how the moon phases work. This blew my mind. Like, I feel like a total idiot because I always thought that somehow, the earth's shadow on the moon was what caused part of it to be dark. This seems like something even little kids probably understand, now that I figured it out. The teacher probably thought everyone already knew this and it was pointless even to teach it, but my mind was being blown away.

Here is the explanation:

you mean a dragon doesn't eat the moon every month and vomit it back up again?!?! wow!

OK, check out these two music videos. They kind of have something in common to me (besides both having lil wayne in them, but hey don't all music videos have lil wayne in them nowadays?); I'll just put them below and then I'll explain:

<lj-embed id="11" /></lj-embed>
Both of these performers' facial expressions are kinda weird. Like, I wanna say inexpressive, but that's not quite it. I'm pretty sure that the more automated our civilization gets (internet, cars, TV, cars with internet and TV in them, etc) and the less time we actually spend getting our hands dirty and experiencing life and drama and whatnot, the more we will start to look kinda bland in the face. IDK, just something I was noticing was becoming more and more popular. Look at models, actors on TV shows, think about your friends that are really into that type of stuff...

I feel it happening to myself too.

There's too much stuff to entertain us inside the house now I guess. I really wish I could like, live in a world where I had to run everywhere I went, like Indians or something. I'd be in way better shape and life would be way better in every way, like I'd catch fish in the river and eat tomatoes that I grew or something (I don't usually like tomatoes that much but I bet I would if I grew them myself). I don't know. I guess I could move away to some woods and live or something, but society is going to need me too much. "Can't leave rap alone, the game needs me" - Jay-Z. I feel kind of like that I guess. OK good night for real.

BTW both of those singer are like, black people that look like white people. I'm noticing that a lot more these days too...sometimes obama looks straight up white, LOL...I'm pretty sure some magazine tint his skin in the direction that they think their demographic will go for...

OK, so I just sat here for the past couple of hours (or more) (ok, more) playing Wonder Boy III, The Dragon's Trap on my computer. This is a game from the ancient Sega Master System, a game system long forgotten to many, but not to me. Oh yes, my mom may have sold it at a garage sale when I was but a boy (back when you could still have garage sales in the Woodlands...see, I'm old school woodlands not new school rich boy woodlands), but I still remember the hours and days spent in front of that small, pink TV upstairs in my mom's room trying to beat those amazing, colorful levels that even as an adult, between the less-than-perfect maneuverability of the character and the annoying, inconvenient save method (not to mention that it brings you back to the beginning of the WORLD every time you die on a level, no matter how far you are), are still almost impossible...

Anyway, in this game you do two things basically: line your pockets with gold and try to find little red hearts to fill up your own heart, which is constantly under attack from a wide array of bad guys. As I was playing, I sort of got a little philosophical and began to realize that this little Wonder Boy is not too unlike myself, out in the world, among all my competitors with their beady eyes trying to slay me, just trying to make my way with some gold and trying to fill my heart with happiness...as the game went on, however, I began to realize that the hearts were more important than the gold...I mean the gold was eventually used to buy stuff that would protect you, like armor, but in the end, if you're more focused on finding gold than hearts, you're dead.

So I guess I thought that in life, if we focus a bit more on what's going on in our hearts than what's in our wallet (Capital One - sorry couldn't resist) (Weezy actually put that in a verse - it's at 4:19) then uh, we'll eventually turn back into a human again? That's what the point of the game is anyway. I'm just wasting time at this point, I really need to go to sleep, I've got church tomorrow at 8ish....nite

i beat this part already...right now i'm like a MouseMan

this is a graffiti i made featuring the Wonder Boy in dragon form....this is the only pic i have of it on my compie, the final version looks way way better with a cooler shade of green...oh wellz

This week was my first week at the University of Texas, the school I've been going to ACC in order to get into for like two years or something. Man, it seems like it's been less but I guess it's been two years. Well, I'm about halfway through my sophomore year of college but I also have a great film production company going, so it evens out...more than evens out really.

OK, so a couple of things I was thinking about today - first of all I was learning in my intro to theater class that there are three main parts to theater - the script (or whatever is being performed) the performers, and the audience. Apparently there was some famous guy back in the day (googling now...unable to find who it was), who would rehearse/produce his plays for a YEAR, and during that time he would accept letters from people explaining why they wanted to see his play, and when it finally was released, he would have maybe 10 people (at a time? at all? at the premiere?) see his play. I'm a little sketchy on the det's as you can see, but I thought that was really interesting, like this guy was just as picky about his audience as he was about his actors.

I guess in a way that sort of shows a lack of confidence in your art? I mean it seems like you're kind of destroying your art form if you are going to create art and then only invite people that you know for a fact are going to like it. Yeah, on second thought that is really lame.

OK, so another thing that happened today was that I was walking on the drag (to Urban Outfitters, to buy some sunglasses, but then I didn't buy any because they were $20 each, but then I didn't buy any at walgreens either because they all looked lame, but anyway), and I saw a guy totally get hit by a car while riding his bike. Wowzers to the jowzers. It was a freshman riding a bike across the street, and a big white car with a huge hood bumped into him; by the time I turned around he was lying on the bed of a hood that this huge sedan offered, and some old foreign-looking lady was driving. She looked kind of unconcerned about the whole situation. The guy sitting on her hood proffered up some "WTF?!" hand gestures but eventually just kind of shakily walked his bike off to the side of the road.

First week of school and I already saw someone get hit by a car. What's next?! I remember the first show I came to at Stubb's when I got back from my mission I saw Mel Gibson, and that's definitely the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me at a show since, so maybe I'm just a first-time excitement-getter or whatever.

I also attempted to go to the top of the UT tower but found that the highest floor I could go to was the 26th, and the 27th is the highest one in the elevator but you need a keycard to get up there. I walked out onto the 26th floor which was a cramped secretary's area, and the old lady looked at me as I peered out the window. She told me to get the F outta there, so I did.

Anyway, I'm excited about this ish. It seems like a new life. I just wish I had like a LOT of MONEY to go along with this new life. Maybe I'll find some buried treasure or something. I asked my good buddy Nathan if he thought there was buried treasure out there and he said yes, of course. Then I asked him if he thought I could find some and he said, "Well let me tell you what'll happen. You'll make a documentary in which you set out to find some buried treasure, not find any, but then at the end the moral will be that you did find the buried treasure and it was inside your heart." Yeah, that sounds about right.

Finishing up this blog post, check out the coolest thing I've ever seen, Tim and Eric's parody of an MTV show. watch all the videos! i did. they're amazing.

http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=8a2505951bc80ed4011c0a1d716a028a

- i am happy that ryan gosling and whats her face are together in real life because it makes The Notebook more real.

- i enjoy shopping.

- watch sex and the city alone and enjoy it.

- I love making out with, thinking about and looking at hot girls (phew).

- however, i know ryan gosling's name and not his girlfriend's (just remembered - rachel mcadams - phew) hahahaha

Anyway, I think I am a closet metrosexual, and the only thing stopping me from being a full-blown Ryan Seacrest metro is the fact that I am an extremely poor college student. This is probably the result of having grown up with a mom and two sisters, and no dad in the house. Oh well what can you do, different strokes for different folks.

p.s. now that i think about it, i don't think i enjoy shopping enough to be metro, but again that may just be because i don't have enough money to buy anything. idk. i also like videogames, star trek, star wars and comic books so maybe i'm just a mixture of a metro, a nerd, and like...a bunch of stufff....

my dreams last night were that I was going to Disneyland after going to Disneyworld, and I was going to actually stay in the Disney resort, which turned out to be "The Haunted Mansion." So it was actually really scary, and my dog ended up being scared away from these other dogs and I LOST him, and my wife and I had to go back to Texas without him which was really sad...he was a short little dog with light brown and white fur, and the final reason he got lost was because people thought that he was a bad dog but really he was trying to protect me from the dogs that were actually bad.

Uh then I dreamed I was going to back to Texas I guess on a train, and I stopped off at some kind of like, country-lookin' restaurant where I had heard that I HAD to try some kind of dessert, so I walked up and asked for one but they got mad at me and said that they didn't serve them till midnight. I went over and was going to sit there till midnight but then one of the nice kitchen workers (a mexican lady) gave me one. Then I walked over and listened to her and her family talking about how her daughter is the prettiest girl at BYU or something.

Anyway I think (know) there was more but that's all I remember.

In 1961 Jose acquired 5 out of 12 Gold plates, that were found in a tomb at Amuzgus, Oaxaca, Mexico, by Dr. Jesus Padilla. These gold plates had a strange writing on them, never being seen before by archaelogists. Jose immediately recognized the style of writing as being the same as facsimile no. 2 from the book of Abraham, printed in the Pearl of Great Price, in the book of Mormon, called Nephite reformed Egyption.
Jose spent two long years trying to crack the code to reading these hieroglyphs. Along the way he received help from Elder Joseph Fielding Smith. He gave Jose a copy of a manuscript entitled "Grammer and Alphabet of the Egyptian Language" an unpublished work from Joseph Smith's school of the prophets. The book was on interpreting Nephite reformed Egyption. With this information he says, along with Budges dictionary on Egyption symbols, he finally cracked the code to interpreting the symbols written on the gold plates.

full story - http://www.geocities.com/baja/outback/5018/davila.html

could it be true???
